Of course, the vendor that you choose to design your eMenu has a big impact on how well it works in your store. But your first consideration should be whether or not it will work for your store setup in the first place.

Given the current labour crunch, many restaurants are turning to eMenus as a way to stretch limited manpower. Customers can put in their own orders, which will go straight to the point of sales system and the kitchen.

Not only does this free up servers to attend to other issues, but it also means that customers don’t have to wait for overtaxed waiters to take their order. How many times have you seen people struggle in vain to get the attention of staff at a restaurant? That said, this probably wouldn’t solve the same problem at a fine-dining restaurant, where attentive, personal service is paramount.

One major advantage of using an eMenu system is that it’s much easier to keep your menu updated. Whether it’s removing an item from a category, or adding a special offers category to the top of the menu, you can make an edit in just a few minutes and have it display on every device. You could go one step further and integrate your eMenu with a compatible POS system, so any changes to your POS product list will automatically reflect on the eMenu.
